YMCA Of Northern Alberta Red Deer Location Now Open The much-anticipated Northside Community Centre in Red Deer is now open. The centre is in full swing this week, as YMCA of Northern Alberta has welcomed its first group of summer day campers. YMCA summer day camps will run all summer long at the Northside Community Centre, offering kids and youth in the city’s north side valuable sports, arts, cooking, science, and leadership camp opportunities. There are still spaces available in these camps, and registration is open. The Northside Community Centre will also host Teen Nights every Friday night for youth ages 13–18, starting this week. Beginning August 1, the YMCA will offer group fitness classes with childminding available as well as drop-in Youth Centre and open gym time. Red Deerians can expect more programs and services available at the centre this fall, including arts and culture programs and after school programs. Filling a gap of recreation services in the area, the Northside Community Centre is a dynamic facility that includes event rental spaces, arts and culture programs, youth programs, a teaching kitchen and rooftop patio, a tastefully finished gymnasium, fitness studio, multi-purpose rooms and more.
