Vehicle stolen in Red Deer recovered in Fort Saskatchewan… 2 arrested

    Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit Recover Stolen Vehicle

    On May 8, 2019, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit recovered a stolen vehicle and charged two occupants with various property related offences.

    Shortly after midnight, the Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit located a vehicle reported stolen out of Red Deer, Alberta while conducting proactive patrols in the downtown area of Fort Saskatchewan. The occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.

    A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of merchandise determined to have been stolen from the 7-Eleven minutes prior to the arrest. A large amount of packaged tools and identification documents, from people residing in various locations within the Province, were also located and believed to have been fraudulently used to obtain credit cards.

    Rachel Taylor (20) of Bon Accord, Alta. and Brendyn Beaulieu (28) of Red Deer County, Alta., are facing numerous charges, some of which include:

    • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
    • Theft Under $5000
    • Possession of Break In Instruments
    • Unauthorized Possession of a Credit Card

    The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit, through the use of intelligence led enforcement, are committed to public safety and the reduction of crime in our community.

    Update: New charges laid in connection to extensive damages to Edson Provincial building

  • An additional Criminal Code charge has been laid against a male who allegedly drove his truck through the Edson Provincial building on May 11, 2019.

    Kelvin Brent Zawadiuk (35) of Edson faces an additional charge of public incitement of hatred. He remains remanded into custody and is due to appear in Edson Provincial Court on May 21, 2019.

    At approximately 9:30 am on May 11, 2019, Edson RCMP received a complaint of extensive damage to the Provincial Building and Provincial Court House in Edson, Alberta. Investigation revealed that a lone male stole a vehicle from the ATCO Electric compound next to the Provincial Building, drove through the fence, through the east entrance to the Provincial building, through the building and exited the west side of the building. Anti-Semitic messaging was written throughout the building.

    Zawadiuk has also been charged with:

    –      Break & enter

    –      Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

    –      Theft of truck

    –      Mischief under $5000 (x2)

    –      Fail to comply with probation order (x2)

  • One male has been arrested and charged in relation to an investigation that began Saturday morning when a suspect drove a stolen vehicle through the Provincial Building and Provincial Court House in Edson, causing extensive damage.

    Kelvin Brent Zawadiuk (35) of Edson has been charged with:

    –      Break & enter

    –      Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

    –      Theft of truck

    –      Mischief under $5000 (x2)

    –      Fail to comply with probation order (x2)

     

    Zawadiuk is due in Whitecourt Provincial Court on May 14, 2019.
