More Moffat at the Market

“No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and never give up.” Dennis Moffat, founder of the Red Deer Farmers’ Market, has been doing that for almost half a century. Every Saturday at 3:00 a.m., Dennis climbs into one of his two pair of farmer overalls, dons his cowboy hat, and is off to make all of the preparations so many of us take for granted. We just show up.
By 8:00 a.m., a great deal of his Saturday’s work is done and he can be found enjoying a Market breakfast. Often, he’s visiting with one of his Farmer’s Market “family”. But then it’s off to give receipts to every vendor, to check on the garbage pails and signage and porta potties and . . .
In this second installment, Dennis talks about the impact the Market has on Red Deer. We also meet several his family members, hear of his varied careers and interests, and are reminded of the varied venues the Market has occupied.
