As a business owner and then Mayor, Samson has spent a great part of her life and her energy promoting all things Sylvan Lake. Under her guidance the town enjoyed explosive growth, attracting thousands of families as permanent residents while balancing the needs of millions of tourists. Now Susan Samson is being honoured by the Red Deer & District Community Foundation with a nomination as a 2017 Woman of Excellence.

After 15 years as a TV reporter with Global and CBC and as news director of RDTV in Red Deer, Duane set out on his own 2008 as a visual storyteller. During this period, he became fascinated with a burgeoning online world and how it could better serve local communities. This fascination led to Todayville, launched in 2016.
