Seizure of illegal cigarettes leads to drugs and cash

A Red Deer man is facing charges of possession for the purposes of trafficking after RCMP made an arrest last week.

Police were tipped off about a person selling illegal cigarettes at a Red Deer business. A 43-year-old male from Red Deer was arrested on July 15, 2020 and remains in police custody with charges pending. The individual was found to be in possession of:

  • 30,615 illegal cigarettes
  • 10 grams of hash
  • Three grams of cocaine
  • $3306 in cash believed to be from the proceeds of crime
  • Documents related to trafficking contraband
