Ryan Langlois takes a walk to raise money and profile for CMHA

September 10, 2018
Ryan Langlois is a local musician who really cares about his community and aims to raise awareness and funds for Canadian Mental Health Association-Central Alberta region through Let’s Walk campaign.
Statistics show, in any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. While it is becoming more socially acceptable to openly discuss the topic, both the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), and Langlois know there is more work to be done on ending the stigma surrounding mental illness.
That is what Ryan Langlois hopes to do with his month long Let’s Walk journey. Ryan will be walking 1 hour a day for 30 days starting September 4th, to raise awareness and funding for CMHA – Central region.
With a little help from his friends (I’m walking with him next week) and some local dignitaries, he will walk daily, shining a light on mental health. Each day will bring a new walker, a new story to be told!
“For those struggling with their mental health, it is often hard to take the first step and reach out for help, much less believe that things can get better,” explains CMHA Executive Director, Christine Stewart. “We are grateful for Ryan’s willingness to share his journey through his mental health struggles and his road to healing,” adds Stewart. Through stories such as Ryan’s, it inspires others to take that difficult first step and have hope.”
