Red Deer Area Jobless Rate Falls in October
By Sheldon Spackman
Some good news to report in the local unemployment rate as there seems to be fewer people looking for work in the Red Deer area.
The latest figures from Stats Canada show the jobless rate was at 6.8 percent in October, down from 8.7 percent in September but up slightly from the 6.6 percent in October of 2015.
The Provincial rate held steady at 8.5 percent but that too is higher than the 6.6 percent Alberta jobless rate in October of 2015.
The national unemployment rate also remained the same at 7 percent, which is the same as October of last year.
