Police make arrest after fires in Eastview’s Terrace Park

Red Deer RCMP arrest man for arson after vehicles fires

A Red Deer man is facing arson charges after two vehicles were set on fire early this morning.

At 3:25 a.m. Red Deer RCMP and Red Deer Emergency Services were called to an address in Terrace Park for a vehicle on fire. A short time later, at 4:15 a.m., they responded to a call for another vehicle on fire at a separate address in Terrace Park.

Residents were briefly evacuated from their homes, but there were no injuries.

RCMP have arrested a 43-year old male in connection with the fires. RCMP and Red Deer Emergency Services continue to investigate.

Weapons charges laid on three people in Cochrane



Cochrane RCMP Charge Three Adults with Numerous Weapons Offences
Cochrane, AB. – On Friday afternoon, December 6, 2019, members of Cochrane RCMP’s General Investigation Section located a suspicious vehicle with three occupants.  The officers observed a firearm in the vehicle and arrested the occupants.  As the investigation unfolded, several weapons were located and seized, including: a loaded shotgun, a loaded rifle, bear spray and brass knuckles.
Carlyle Holloway, 39 yrs, Zachary Sampson, 33 yrs, and Aldina Snow, 34 yrs, all from Morley, Alberta, have been charged with several offences including:
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (four counts),
  • Carrying a concealed weapon (three counts),
  • Careless storage of a firearm (two counts),
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts), and
  • Tampering with a serial number (one count).
All three accused were held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing.  Holloway was remanded to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday, December 10th,  Sampson was released on a $2000 no deposit Recognizance to appear in Court on December 17th, and Snow was released on $3000 no deposit Recognizance to appear in Court on Tuesday, December 10th.

Red Deer RCMP apprehend and charge Quentin Strawberry

On the morning of December 2, 2019, members of the Red Deer RCMP Downtown Patrol Unit responded to an incident at an apartment building in downtown Red Deer. While investigating the scene, members discovered a male suffering from a head injury from an alleged attack with a machete.

Quentin Strawberry (38) of O’Chiese First Nation was located and arrested by police on outstanding warrants for failure to comply with conditions of his release on bail.

An investigation led RCMP to charge Strawberry in relation to the attack;

  • attempted murder
  • obstructing a police officer
  • breach of recognizance X 6

Strawberry is also facing previously existing charges, including 2nd degree murder, from the March 29, 2019 homicide of Joseph Junior Alfred Gallant.  Strawberry was arrested on this charge on April 16, 2019.

On November 20, 2019, Strawberry was granted bail, with restrictions including a 24-hour curfew, keeping the peace, and not possessing anything intended to be used as a weapon.  Strawberry failed to comply with all conditions and was subsequently charged for breaching his release conditions on November 20, 25 and 26.

Strawberry will remain in custody until his next court date on December 11, 2019 at Red Deer Provincial Court.
