  • The Alberta Sport Development Centre – Central (ASDC-C) is pleased to announce that the ASDC-Central Athlete of the Month for February 2019 is Isaac Bahler.  Isaac Bahler is a 14 year old Grade 9 French Immersion student at Lindsay Thurber High School in Red Deer and a competitive swimmer.

As a swimmer Isaac has had many accomplishments, most recently at the 2018 Alberta Summer Games in Grande Prairie where he won 3 gold, 2 bronze and a silver medal. Isaac has had a great year in the pool thus far with Red Deer Catalina Swim Club, achieving many Alberta Championship qualifying times, and most recently a Western Canadian Championship qualifying time.  He is currently gearing up for Alberta Short Course Championships in March 2019 and the Western Championships in April 2019.

Outside of his swimming exploits, Isaac has many other interests.  Isaac is a Martin Godfrey writing award winner, and recently was named a County of Red Deer writing award recipient.  Isaac is a lover of music and is the drummer for his rock band – The Bland Band.  Isaac’s believes hard work and determination will allow him to continue improving in all parts of life as he continues through the rest of high school.

With Isaacs strong work ethic, his undeniable athletic abilities and his training experiences with ASDC-Central, he will surely continue to grow, develop and succeed in his swimming career!

ASDC-Central thanks Tom Bast Sports for celebrating the ASDC-Central Athlete of the Month recipients by the provision of commemorative apparel for each recipient.

  • The support of donors and sponsors ensures the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra can create and inspire the next generation of musicians. In particular, we provide professional level performance opportunities for emerging artists, such as Harbour Lehocky, to facilitate their development as musicians.’

Harbour will be making her debut performance with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra at the June 8th ‘Season Finale’ concert in recognition of being a 2018 winner of the Red Deer Festival of the Performing Arts.

Harbour started violin at the age of six, almost 9 years ago, and continues to ask her parents why they didn’t get her started with lessons earlier! She is the concertmaster for the Rosedale Valley Strings Orchestra, conducted by Naomi Delafield, and a member of the Burman University Symphony Orchestra with whom she toured Western Canada in 2018 and California earlier this year. Harbour attended the Orford Musique Academy in Quebec in the summer of 2018, funded by the Lacombe Endowment Grant and will attend several international camps and competitions as well as perform a solo piece with a youth orchestra in Austria this summer.

This busy young musician is also a provincial medals recipient in swimming, holds two provincial records in breaststroke, and is a 2016 Alberta Summer Games bronze medal recipient in triathlon.

Join the audience (tickets remain available) and help the RDSO welcome Harbour Lehocky to the stage!
