Carbon Tax Rally draws from Rocky to Rimbey to Red Deer

Today’s “Rally for Alberta” Red Deer City Hall drew a crowd that I’d estimate at about 400. The photo gallery represents a realistic cross section of the crowd on hand. These are the people who drive the trucks, weld the iron, and form the rural backbone of our province. These are not the highly paid oil sector workers, though some may have been. Instead, these are the folks who work in the industries that have now started to reel from the trickle down effects of an oil-based economy that no longer produces much oil. These are the farmers, the plumbers, the hair dressers, restaurant owners, their neighbours, and their families.
