Christine Moore, current county councilor for Red Deer County Division Six, announced today she will be seeking the nomination for the United Conservative Party to represent the people of Innisfail-Syvlan Lake.

“I am entering this race because I want to represent the people of Innisfail- Sylvan Lake in Edmonton,” said Ms. Moore. “In the wake of our MLA resigning unexpectedly, after a decade of division, I believe that it is time for our community to move forward.  This community needs a representative with a proven track record of balancing budgets, standing up for their community, and someone with the experience to deliver on their promises,” said Ms. Moore

Moore has held numerous community positions including Chairperson of the Red Deer Regional Catholic School Board and Co-Chairman of Child and Family Services Authority for Central Alberta.  Community-building initiatives include the Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off, of which Moore is founding Co-Chair Person; now it its seventh year, the event has raised over $2 million for various charities in Central Alberta.

“As a conservative, I believe that it is the responsibility of individuals to look after one another” said Ms. Moore. “The NDP believes that they should increase taxes to redistribute wealth, all that does is scare away investment and increase poverty.  If I am elected, I promise I will continue to promote worthy causes while being a fierce guardian of tax payer’s money” said Ms. Moore.

Moore says her biggest concern is rural crime, pointing to the economic downturn as a major cause of rising crime in rural communities across Central Alberta.  Moore’s campaign says the NDP have done ‘nothing of substance’ to address the problem and that if elected, she would work with Jason Kenney to bring about substantive changes to Alberta’s justice system and lobby the Federal Government to update the criminal code.
