The Advanced Learning Scholarship is for $500 each and was presented recently to Melinda Hatfield from Delburne Centralized School, Hailey Messer from Penhold Crossing Secondary School and Brayden Olmstead from Sylvan Lake Ecole H. J. Cody School.
The scholarship was created in 1982, following the passing of long-time County resident and bachelor Magnus Johann Maxson who bequeathed the balance of his estate to establish an academic scholarship that would help county youth in their pursuit of advanced learning.
Red Deer County acts as a trustee of the monies that were donated.
