Red Deer RCMP – man fatally shot at South Walmart

Red Deer, Alta. – Friday at 6:47 p.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at the South Red Deer Walmart. Members have determined that shots were fired in the front entrance of the store.  As a result, a 69-year-old male was fatally shot.

Preliminary information suggests that this was a targeted shooting, and as the incident has concluded, there is no further danger to the general public.

There are online reports stating multiple victims, but we can confirm that this is incorrect.

Members from surrounding detachments have arrived at the scene including Police Dogs Services, the Emergency Response Team, and Major Crimes Unit.

The area is contained and it is no longer an active scene.

The scene will be barricaded as members conduct the investigation.

RCMP seek public assistance in identifying suspect of a home invasion robbery

On November 24, 2019, at approximately 2:26 am, Innisfail RCMP received a complaint of an armed robbery and home invasion at an apartment in Innisfail Alberta.  The suspects had fled.
RCMP investigation revealed that the suspects, two males and a female, gained entry to an apartment located on the top floor of the Innisfail Hotel.  Once they entered the apartment they ordered the male and female victims not to move and stole a quantity of property before exiting the building and fleeing in a blue PT cruiser style vehicle.

Update:
On January 10th 2020 RCMP Innisfail requested the public assist to identify a female observed on CCTV at the scene of the crime.  RCMP received numerous crime stoppers tips from the public and the female was identified.
Charges have been successfully laid and one individual remains wanted on a warrant in connection with this incident.

Kayla Jackson (23 years) of Red Deer Alberta has been charged with:
·                 Robbery with a firearm
·                 Unlawfully in a dwelling house
·                 Forcible entry
·                 Fail to comply
Jackson was released by OIC undertaking to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court Feb 26th 2020

Benjamin William Bjarnson (33 years) of Red Deer Alberta has been charged with:
·                 Robbery with a firearm
·                 Unlawfully in a dwelling house
·                 Disguise with intent
·                 Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose
·                 Pointing a firearm
·                 Use of a firearm in an indictable offence
·                 Forcible entry
Bjarnson has been remanded to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court Jan 28th 2020

Hendriksen is currently WANTED on warrants related to this incident.  RCMP are currently seeking information on his location.

Stettler man charged with murdering his father

RCMP Major Crimes Unit lays charges in Stettler death

The RCMP have laid charges against one male following a criminal death that occurred on Jan. 15, 2020 in Stettler.

At 2:55 p.m. on Jan. 15 the Stettler RCMP responded to a call of a deceased male at a residence.  The responding members determined that the death was suspicious and took an adult male into custody without issue. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed.

This morning, an autopsy was conducted in Calgary.  The cause of death was attributed to multiple blunt and sharp force trauma.

Nicholas Climb Johnson (32) of Stettler is charged with second degree murder in the death of his father, Barrie Douglas Johnson.  He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Settler on Jan. 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

Information about the nature of this incident will not be made available.  It is now a matter of court record.
