Red Deer Citizen of the Year Terry Loewen spearheads critical community projects
The Red Deer Rotary Club has named Terry Loewen 2018 Citizen of the Year. Loewen is Vice President of Abbey Platinum Master Built, one of Red Deer’s largest home building companies. Over the years he has used his professional skills time and time again to build support, and physical buildings for various community projects. Starting with unique and impressive playhouses donated to the Festival of Trees, Terry moved on to larger and larger commitments. Two massive projects stand out as incredible accomplishments. In 2014 Loewen lead the charge for a complete overhaul of the facilities at Camp Alexo. The summer camp has provided life changing experiences for Central Alberta youth for decades, and the original facility was in dire need. Loewen recruited over 300 volunteers and tradespeople to spend a weekend in what became known as Weekend Warriors for Camp Alexo. Loewen also spearheaded a local group looking for relief for young people suffering various forms of trauma. This has culminated in the the new Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre which offers co-ordinated supports for children impacted by various forms of abuse.
Please see this short video profiling Terry Loewen and his role in these crucial projects.
Todayville congratulates Terry Loewen, 2018 Red Deer Citizen of the Year.
