RDC’s Summer Camp Registration Is Underway!
Christmas is just around the corner and unique gifts are always hard to find. This year, you can give the gift of learning, as RDC’s 2017 summer camps are now open for registration.
With over 1,200 youth taking part in a variety of summer camps at RDC this past summer, there is something for everyone. An enthusiastic ambassador from her camp experience is Katherine Griffith.
Katherine first started attending MusiCamp when she was 12 years old; that was six years ago, and it has been the highlight of every summer since then. “Going in, I didn’t know anyone, but by the second day I had a big group of friends and was playing music I had never dreamed of.”
MusiCamp Alberta is just one of many summer camps offered at RDC, and it is the only provincial music workshop. The faculty is comprised of world-class performers and teachers from professional ensembles, who work to cultivate artistry, discipline and an appreciation of music. “The music was amazing, and the teachers taught me more in one week than I learned in a month at school,” says Katherine.
As for the accommodation, “I got to live in a college dorm room for a week, which was pretty much the coolest thing ever,” she says. Students who participate in overnight camps live in residence facilities on RDC’s main campus, which consist of apartment-style housing.
RDC day and overnight camps are available for a wide variety of interests including sport, science, visual art, film, game design, trades, music, dance, cooking and animation. “It was an absolutely amazing time,” says Katherine, “and I made some of the best friends that I have ever had while I was there.”
RDC’s 2017 summer camps are now open for registration. For more information, visit
