RCMP looking for this Red Deer man in connection to home invasion robbery at Innisfail

RCMP seek public assistance in identifying suspect of a home invasion robbery

On November 24, 2019, at approximately 2:26 am, Innisfail RCMP received a complaint of an armed robbery and home invasion at an apartment in Innisfail Alberta.  The suspects had fled.
RCMP investigation revealed that the suspects, two males and a female, gained entry to an apartment located on the top floor of the Innisfail Hotel.  Once they entered the apartment they ordered the male and female victims not to move and stole a quantity of property before exiting the building and fleeing in a blue PT cruiser style vehicle.

Update:
On January 10th 2020 RCMP Innisfail requested the public assist to identify a female observed on CCTV at the scene of the crime.  RCMP received numerous crime stoppers tips from the public and the female was identified.
Charges have been successfully laid and one individual remains wanted on a warrant in connection with this incident.

Kayla Jackson (23 years) of Red Deer Alberta has been charged with:
·                 Robbery with a firearm
·                 Unlawfully in a dwelling house
·                 Forcible entry
·                 Fail to comply
Jackson was released by OIC undertaking to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court Feb 26th 2020

Benjamin William Bjarnson (33 years) of Red Deer Alberta has been charged with:
·                 Robbery with a firearm
·                 Unlawfully in a dwelling house
·                 Disguise with intent
·                 Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose
·                 Pointing a firearm
·                 Use of a firearm in an indictable offence
·                 Forcible entry
Bjarnson has been remanded to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court Jan 28th 2020

Shooting in Holy Family School parking lot

Red Deer RCMP investigate shooting and have suspect in custody while victim recovers in hospital

On April 9, 2020, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a call of shots fired at a parking lot near the Holy Family School in Red Deer.

Further investigation revealed that two males allegedly met at the parking lot of the Holy Family School. Upon arrival, one of the males, a 20-year-old male from Red Deer, discharged a firearm, striking the other male, a 21-year-old male from Red Deer, before fleeing in an SUV. A number of individuals witnessed this incident.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for injuries that have been determined to be non-life-threatening. The victim remains in hospital at this time.

Within a short time, Red Deer RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service and RCMP General Investigation Section, contained an area around the male suspect’s home in the Anders area. The RCMP Emergency Response Team were deployed and attended to assist with containment and negotiations. As a result of successful negotiations, the suspect surrendered onApril 10, 2020, at approximately 1 a.m., and was arrested without incident. The suspect remains in RCMP custody pending charges and a judicial hearing.

Red Deer RCMP, along with RCMP General Investigation Section and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to maintain a presence in the Anders neighborhood for the purposes of a search and neighborhood inquiries. This is anticipated to continue until later this afternoon.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and the public are not believed to be at risk.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • Aged 35-45 years old
  • Approximately 5’11”
  • Was wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and black running shoes with a white base

Red Deer RCMP investigate robbery

Red Deer RCMP are investigating a robbery which occurred March 24 at the Servus Credit Union located at 3001 50 Avenue.

RCMP were called to Servus Credit Union at approximately 10:30 a.m. on March 24 following a robbery. The suspect was unarmed and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

RCMP are seeking public assistance to identify the suspect, who was described as a lone male wearing work coveralls, a black hoody and work boots. The suspect was unarmed.

Red Deer RCMP are continuing to investigate this incident.
