MS Society To Benefit From This Weekend’s Spring Fever Run!
By Sheldon Spackman
The Central Alberta Chapter of the MS Society of Canada stands to benefit from a Spring Fever Run taking place in Red Deer this weekend. The April 22nd event is being hosted by Blitz Events and is a 5 or 10 K run that people of all abilities are encouraged to take part in and raise money for the organization. The MS Society serves roughly 14 thousand Central Albertans through it’s programs.
Officials say this is an inexpensive chip timed event, giving runners the opportunity to receive a race bib, timing chip and water at the finish line. You pay only $30 to run, $10 of which will be donated to the MS Society of Central Alberta. Registrations begin at 8:30 am, while the 10K race starts at 10 and the 5k at 10:10 am. The event should wrap up by 12:30 pm.
Christine Caddell from Blitz Events says 147 people have registered for the event so far, with nearly $460 raised. She points out 30 volunteers have also come forward to help out with the day’s events and fundraising campaign. Caddell adds that Blitz is also organizing a Roundup Run and Oktoberfest Run in Red Deer later this year as well.
