Local Immigrants Learning To Skate!
By Sheldon Spackman
Immigrants to Central Alberta are learning to skate this Holiday Season. Thanks to a partnership between the Central Alberta Refugee Effort, City of Red Deer, Red Deer RCMP and Red Deer Pond Hockey, local immigrants are getting the chance over the next few days to strap on some blades and glide!
The “Learn To Skate” program runs December 28-30th from 1-4pm at the G.H. Dawe Arena on December 28th, Bower Ponds December 29th and the Westpark Outdoor Rink on Friday, December 30th.
“Learn To Skate” offers immigrant youth from 10-19 years old, the chance to learn a great Canadian past time and is a free event with all equipment provided.
