2024 City Councilor By-Election
Get to know your candidates for city council: Jason Chilibeck
From elections.reddeer.ca
About the Candidate
First, my condolences to the Dawe family on the passing of Michael. Michael truly loved Red Deer and I enjoyed working with and hearing his stories about Red Deer. Michael and Frank Wong were always gracious to talk with me and I enjoyed our conversations. —- A Vote for Jason is a vote for Fiscal Accountability. An entrepreneur, volunteer, father, husband, and a long time citizen of Red Deer who believes in organic growth. Red Deer is uniquely positioned and needs to work within its means.
Candidate Priorities
Fiscal Accountability | Put a ‘Cap on Capstone’ and stop using the City of Red Deer as a bank. The mission of the City of Red Deer is to provide leadership and sustainable municipal services for our community, not to fund or back bad decisions. |
---|---|
Strategic Partnerships | The City of Red Deer has several long time businesses and people who have called Red Deer home. I find it inspiring to know I am able to share Red Deer with them and will do my part to support and encourage their continued participation in Red Deer. |
Community | Red Deer can be a fabulous place to live, raise a family, connect with neighbours, and be what you want to be. Still, we have a long way to go and I seek to encourage all persons to participate in the City starting with 1 volunteer hour. |
Policy as a Driver (Create a Sustainable Red Deer) | The greatest tool the City of Red Deer has is policy. With sound policy we can guide the City towards desired objectives, allow people to be empowered and engaged, and allow Red Deer to be sustainable. |
Ability to Say ‘No’ | Saying ‘no’ amongst your peers can be difficult but it is an important tool, allowing one to maintain integrity, and allow for effective decision making by allowing room for alternatives to exist. In a lot of cases, common sense is appropriate. |
