City of Red Deer Bob Stollings Award winner announced

Dave Amendt is the 2023 recipient of the Bob Stollings Memorial Award.

The Bob Stollings Memorial Award is given out each year to a City employee who displays outstanding performance in alignment with The City’s cornerstone values – respect, integrity, service and excellence. Nominations for the award are submitted by fellow coworkers detailing the employee’s achievements professionally and interpersonally, along with letters of support. The award is considered a great honour among City staff.

Dave has been with The City since 2010, and is currently the Waste Management Inspector with Utility Services. He played an instrumental role in the successful launch of the green and black cart program, helping citizens learn about the program and resolve problems – often visiting homes to work directly with citizens.

Described by his nominators as a customer service superhero who goes above and beyond in all of his interactions with both citizens and his co-workers, Dave brings The City’s RISE principles – respect, integrity, service and excellence – to life every day. From handling issues at the landfill to missed cart pickups, there’s no problem too big or small for Dave to handle, and he does it all with a smile on his face.

“Commitment to excellence is at the core of everything that Dave does. He is dedicated to supporting our citizens and finding solutions to whatever issues and challenges may arise,” said City Manager Tara Lodewyk. “He is a true champion for bettering our community and a shining example of our City’s core values. We are honoured to recognize Dave with this award.”

The Bob Stollings Memorial Award was first established in 1985 and is presented every year to honour Robert (Bob) E. Stollings, a loyal and dedicated City employee from 1960-1984.
