Celebrating A New Habitat Build In Lacombe!

By Sheldon Spackman
It was a day that will never be forgotten for four families in Lacombe. Friday, July 14th, they were handed the keys to their brand new Habitat for Humanity homes in the city’s new Shepherd Heights neighbourhood. The Ribbon-Cutting and Key Ceremony was attended by well over one hundred people and included dignitaries such as Mayor Steve Christie, and MLA Ron Orr.
The two duplexes on Sheep Close were built over the past year with the help of 500 hours of volunteer community service from each of the 4 selected families and with the assistance of an additional 223 volunteers devoting an incredible 3,500 hours. Officials with Habitat for Humanity Red Deer say this marks the 2nd consecutive project for them in the City of Lacombe. Two other duplexes were previously built in the city in 2016.
