Flooded in Debt: Rand Paul’s Fight To Fix Federal Flood Insurance
From Stossel TV
NOTE: This is a US based program.
Federal flood insurance is a disaster!
As I reported years ago, Federal Flood Insurance encourages idiots like me to do foolish things like building a house on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. It was a risky place to build, but I did it anyway because government guaranteed my investment. Eventually, my whole house was destroyed, but I didn’t lose a penny. Thanks!
But it’s wrong that you paid for my risk-taking, and it’s good that finally, one senator, Rand Paul, wants to limit this handout. He points out, that there’s no limit on how many times your government will give away your money. “One house in Virginia, they’ve rebuilt the house 41 times,” explains Paul. 41 times!
Federal flood insurance is like buying drunk drivers new cars. It’s not government’s job to protect people from the risks we choose to take. We should get rid of federal flood insurance and all subsidies that encourage people like me to build in risky places.
After 40+ years of reporting, I now understand the importance of limited government and personal freedom.

Libertarian journalist John Stossel created Stossel TV to explain liberty and free markets to young people. Prior to Stossel TV he hosted a show on Fox Business and co-anchored ABC’s primetime newsmagazine show, 20/20. Stossel’s economic programs have been adapted into teaching kits by a non-profit organization, “Stossel in the Classroom.” High school teachers in American public schools now use the videos to help educate their students on economics and economic freedom. They are seen by more than 12 million students every year.
Stossel has received 19 Emmy Awards and has been honored five times for excellence in consumer reporting by the National Press Club. Other honors include the George Polk Award for Outstanding Local Reporting and the George Foster Peabody Award.

The Bee-pocalypse: Another Scare Story the Media Got Wrong
From StosselTV
Have you heard? The honey bees are dying!
At least, that’s what the media and big money- hungry environmental groups want you to (bee)lieve.
About 20 years ago, some American bees died from “colony collapse disorder.” The media soon warned of a “bee-pocalypse” and that it might devastate our food supply.
But while the media was in a buzz, beekeepers adjusted and rebuilt their colonies. Since then, there are 31% more bees in America.
Do the media stop their fearmongering? NO! The scare just won’t go away.
Our video is here to tell more of the story.
After 40+ years of reporting, I now understand the importance of limited government and personal freedom.

Protecting Free Speech: The Early Warning Signs From Around The World
From StosselTV
We Americans take free speech for granted. But if you look around the world, you see why we shouldn’t.
In Britain, you can get arrested for saying things online that police find “offensive.”
In Scotland, misgendering someone can land you in jail for seven years.
Canada may soon pass a law that would punish “advocating genocide” with life in prison.
Now in the U.S., the House of Representatives voted for a bill that would make chants like “from the river to the sea” illegal at universities.
These are bad ideas. Free speech is valuable.
After 40+ years of reporting, I now understand the importance of limited government and personal freedom.
