Red Deer Regional Airport (YQF) Reports Another Successful Year and Creates Opportunities for Future Development
On Wednesday, May 10, Red Deer Regional Airport officials held their Annual Public Meeting at the Red Deer Regional Airport’s FBO Terminal and highlighted the beginning of the expansion project in 2022, continued expansion plans for the upcoming year and community leadership.
Graham Ingham, Red Deer Regional Airport CEO states, “We are very happy with what transpired in 2022, despite Runway 17/35 being closed for a significant amount of time, operating revenue was only down slightly. However, thanks to several cost savings initiatives, net income was right on target. Construction of the remaining work to complete phase one has already begun and is expected to be completed by mid July. Phase two and three of the airport’s expansion plans are expected to begin this year.”
“We continue to be heavily involved in the community through community leadership and strive to create brand awareness of our key pillars – safety, security and service,” adds Ingham.“The best way to grow your business is to help support the community, and that’s something we’re really focused on.”
In 2022, Red Deer Regional Airport supported 15 non-profit organizations with events for the community and raised over $39,000 to support them. In July 2023, Red Deer Regional Airport will be the host airport for the Red Deer Regional Airshow featuring the Canadian International Air Race Championship and Props and Pistons. This event looks to create economic benefit for the region and an opportunity to engage the community with the aviation industry. More event information and how to get involved will be available this fall.
On July 29 & 30, 2023, Red Deer Regional Airport will be the host airport for the Red Deer Regional Airshow featuring the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, Pylon Air Racing and our popular long-time show and shine, Props and Pistons. This event looks to create economic benefit for the region and an opportunity to engage the community with the aviation industry. Watch for additional opportunities and invitations related to the Airshow in the coming month, with tickets on sale May 31.
We are excited to continue to play a significant role in helping to drive future economic growth and prosperity for Central Alberta.
