Sockey Night In Red Deer A Big Success
By Sheldon Spackman
Red Deerians have stepped up in a big way once again to help out those less fortunate in our community. Over 17 hundred pairs of socks were donated by Central Albertans during” Sockey Night In Red Deer” held at the Rebels game at the Centrium last Saturday, October 22nd.
During the second intermission, fans were encouraged to throw brand new pairs of socks onto the ice for the United Way of Central Alberta to collect and distribute to some of it’s agencies that need them for their clients. Fans could either buy the socks at the game or bring new ones to the game to donate.
All proceeds from sock sales will also go to the United Way for investment in more than 40 Community Impact Programs. The socks are being delivered on Thursday, October 27th to six of the United Way’s partner agencies who will then get them to those who need them.
