Journeys of Hope – 5 Refugees Stories
The Central Alberta Refugee Effort has discovered a powerful new tool to help engage the community in the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees. During Alberta Culture Days CARE debuted a theatre production featuring the life stories of locals who came to Canada as refugees.
Together with dozens of volunteers including many of the refugees from the stories, Jan Underwood of CARE produced Journeys of Hope. It may be hard for those of us born here to believe but there really are many people living among us who’ve had to endure the type of life and death struggles you’d expect to see in a Hollywood movie.
In this short video you can experience “Journeys of Hope” and you’ll hear from one of the volunteer actors who helped bring these stories to life, as well as a fellow Red Deerian with an incredible life story.
