Festival Of Trees Fundraising Total Announced!
By Sheldon Spackman
Organizers with the 2016 Festival of Trees in Red Deer have announced the total amount raised with this year’s event. $950,000 has been raised for the Red Deer Regional Hospital, more specifically for the Medical Specialty Clinic where the first ever Central Alberta Parkinson’s Clinic will be located.
Officials with the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation say the Festival entertained 23,000 guests, thanks to the efforts of more than 2,500 volunteers. Over 1,500 volunteer entertainers also took part, while 500 donors offered their support as well.
This year’s total is below the $1,060,000 raised in 2015 but organizers are very happy with the result considering the state of the Alberta economy this year. The 23rd annual Festival of Trees in Red Deer has now raised over $13.8 million since it’s inception in 1994.
Next year’s Festival of Trees in Red Deer will take place November 22nd to 26th of 2017.
