About Shalom Counselling Centre

Shalom Counselling Centre is a registered Christian charity that has been serving families of Central Alberta since 1999 providing counselling to individuals, couples, and families, group therapy programs, and wellness education. Those who come to Shalom are helped to face emotional and relational concerns, addressing mental health and family life issues for all stages of development. Preventative and early intervention support is provided to help people find their own solutions based on their values and beliefs. Shalom’s goal is to provide affordable, accessible services to anyone so that they can enjoy greater mental well-being and healthier relationships, as strong community members.

Shalom serves anyone aged 12 and over regardless of their background, gender, culture, religious affiliation, or financial situation. Counselling is offered on a sliding scale fee schedule, based on household income and the client’s ability to pay. Financial support from the community enables us to offer affordable services.  In addition to counselling, Shalom also offers wellness education to the community in areas of emotional and relational wellness. Topics include healthy relationships for teens, responding to bullying, stress management, conflict management, downsizing, and parenting.  In 2017 Shalom served 946 individuals through counselling and another 302 attended wellness education activities.

The Mustard Seed proceeds will be divided equally between the School Lunch Program and caring for Red Deer’s most vulnerable guests – building community, growing hope and supporting real change.

Proceeds that Shalom Counselling Centre receives will be used to continue offering peace and hope to those seeking emotional and relational wellness for their life, at a cost that they can afford. Shalom will be able to continue reaching out to those who are hurting with our counselling and wellness education services.

The Mustard Seed and Shalom Counselling Centre serve Red Deer’s most vulnerable citizens. Together, we will be able to provide direct client services to those facing numerous challenges including housing, health and wellness, basic services, and emotional or relational support.
