Just a guy with a pack fundraising event- helping the homeless in Edmonton
Spectacular fundraising event in Edmonton, at the Dirtbag Café in Rock Jungle Boulder, helping the homeless with the necessities. Chris Hancock, making #yeg a better place for all our communities.
Just a Guy with a Pack — is a grassroots initiative that was started by Chris Hancock who is a runner in Edmonton, AB. During his runs, especially through the river valley and downtown, Chris would often see people in need and realized that he could give so much more purpose to his exercise. The idea that spawned was to a add backpack full of supplies to his running ensemble – he carries anything from socks to food to ponchos. He has been extremely well received and has been able to build trust with a number of community members. In the summer of 2017, harm reduction supplies were added to the pack (which was his first goal of the program). The ultimate goal of Just a Guy with a Pack is to build trust between community members, increase awareness about homelessness, and help ensure that people feel cared for and loved no matter where they are at.
