I Think It Is A Good Thing To Show A Balanced Perspective On Any Story

Diedra Garyk, Canadian Energy Advocate
Diedra Garyk: ” I think it’s a good thing to show a balanced perspective on any story because people shouldn’t just blindly believe what they’re told. I think that we should all have a natural curiosity and we should be critical thinkers, and so getting access to different perspectives, different sides of the debate helps people come up with their own ideas, draw their own conclusions, and sometimes your perspective is shifted when you learn something new through something like documentaries, etc. I used to be anti-nuclear, very, very opposed to nuclear until the last year. Somebody started a dialogue with me on LinkedIn and I started doing research, and I realized it’s actually a pretty reasonable energy source and something that we do need to consider. ”

The mayors of Alberta’s two largest cities say they expect a good relationship with a re-elected United Conservative Party government, despite its loss of seats in Calgary and Edmonton.
Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek adds that all politicians need to stand up against hate and divisiveness.
Gondek and Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi say the cities and the province need to work together to address affordability.
Sohi adds that it’s unfortunate Edmonton won’t have any representation in the provincial government.
Danielle Smith’s UCP dominated outside the two big cities while retaining enough support in Calgary to lessen the pain of an NDP sweep in Edmonton and win a second consecutive majority government.
Several of Smith’s cabinet ministers were unseated, including former health minister Jason Copping and former mental health and addiction minister Nicholas Milliken in Calgary, as well as deputy premier Kaycee Madu in Edmonton.

Calgary police have a new way for sex workers to report violence and other safety concerns.
Called the Bad Date Line, it allows those in the sex trade to report harmful, violent or abusive customers.
A dedicated phone number and email address are available for people to report information to police in a less formalized way.
Police say the information will not be used to target sex workers and will instead be used to investigate perpetrators.
The move comes after police arrested and charged a man with kidnapping and sexually assaulting women in Calgary’s sex trade.
Police said several women allege they were approached by a man, then drugged and taken to another location, where they were physically and sexually assaulted.
