Local Mounties are investigating the discovery of two large engines found in a Red Deer green space last month. The discovery was made on September 26th where two large motors were found in the area of the CPR Walking Bridge and 53rd avenue. One was located just off the path sitting on a yellow jack, while the other had been placed in some trees and covered with branches. Police aren’t sure how the engines got there as each weighs between three and five hundred pounds.

RCMP speculate the motors may have been taken for the copper wire they contain but the copper wire had yet to be removed and there have been no reports of any recent engine thefts in the area so far.

The motors are manufactured by Teco-Westinghouse and English Electric Company of Canada respectively.

If you have any information on the discovery of these two engines, contact Red Deer City RCMP at 403-343-5575.
