The Freak-Show Circus Is Coming to Town

Published

Looking or something different to do this Halloween?

Volunteer Central and Undercurrent Brewing are teaming for Boo’s + Brews: A Freak-Show Cabaret on October 25, 2019.

The evening is set to include rarely seen in Red Deer circus performers doing freak-show themed acts (when is the last time you saw a contortionist?) – all right in the middle of the brewery! This is all in part to help raise funds towards building a thriving community through volunteerism. Enjoy a freakishly-fun evening that includes two live circus performances, a tarot card-reading gypsy, 50/50 and raffles.

Limited tickets are available. Get your friends together to come join us for a disturbingly fun night out unlike anything else being offered in Red Deer.

Round up the staff and purchase 4 tickets for $120 (single tickets are $35). Package include 8 drink tickets, a delicious assortment of tapas including mini chicken & waffles, tortellini skewers, and a corazon chocolate and hazelnut mousse dessert. Single tickets are $35, and include 2 drink tickets, tapas and dessert.

Tickets available on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/boos-brews-a-freakshow-cabaret-tickets-73866967087

Alternatively, avoid paying Eventbrite fee’s, and email Bryan @ bmchale@undercurrentbrewing.com to pay by e-transfer!

Volunteer Central strives to build a strong, connected and engaged community through volunteerism.

FROM RDC Communications

RDC welcomes Sheldon Kennedy

On November 20, Red Deer College welcomes Sheldon Kennedy, co-founder of Respect Group Inc., as he shares his vision on creating a global culture of respect.

Wednesday, November 20

3 to 4 p.m.

Red Deer College Arts Centre Mainstage

In this fireside-chat style presentation, Kennedy will share his vision to eliminate bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination. His over-arching goal to inspire a culture of respect is foundational to the work of the Respect Group, and his message is applicable to all work places, schools and sports organizations.

This free event is open to members of the public, as well as RDC students, faculty and staff.

Sheldon Kennedy first became known to Canadians when he earned gold at the World Junior Hockey Championships in 1988. He won the Memorial Cup in 1989 and he played for three NHL teams, but perhaps his biggest impact has been off the ice.

Sheldon has dedicated his life after hockey to education and the prevention of child abuse. He has been instrumental in bringing governments, public and private sector partners together to work collaboratively to influence policy change and improve the way child abuse is handled. He has influenced changes in Canadian law.
