Council committee applications now open

The City is looking for volunteers to sit on one of several boards, committees, and commissions.

Community members are encouraged to submit their application(s) for an open position on one of many council committees. Applications are currently being accepted and members are needed for the following boards, committees, and commissions:

  • Community Housing Advisory Board
  • Intermunicipal Subdivision & Development Appeal Board
  • Library Board
  • Mayor’s Recognition Awards Committee
  • Municipal Planning Commission
  • Public Art Commission
  • Red Deer & District Family and Community Support Services Board
  • Red Deer Appeal & Review Board/Red Deer Subdivision & Development Appeal Board (joint appointment)
  • Red Deer Regional Airport Board
  • River Bend Golf & Recreation Society Board

The City is looking for people who have an open mind, are fair and willing to contribute their time and knowledge. Applicants should be able to interpret legislation and communicate effectively.

Each volunteer position has a different level of commitment and terms vary in length. Detailed information for each board, committee, and commission is available online at reddeer.ca/committees.

Those interested in joining a board, committee or commission are invited to complete the required application form and submit it to Legislative Services no later than September 30, 2019, by 9 a.m. Applications can be submitted in person, by fax to 403-346-6195, or by email to [email protected].

After 15 years as a TV reporter with Global and CBC and as news director of RDTV in Red Deer, Duane set out on his own 2008 as a visual storyteller. During this period, he became fascinated with a burgeoning online world and how it could better serve local communities. This fascination led to Todayville, launched in 2016.
