Seasonal changes to Green Cart collection start next week

Seasonal changes to Green Cart collection will start next week as Green Carts shift to every other week collection.

Effective November 16, Green Carts will be collected every other week on the same week as Blue Carts. This schedule will continue through until April 5, at which time Green Carts will return to weekly collection when seasonal yard waste increases.

“Blue and Black cart collection schedules won’t change, but Green Carts will be collected every other week during cooler months,” said Waste Management Superintendent Janet Whitesell. “We see a steep decrease in organics collected over the winter months, so there isn’t a need for weekly collection during that time. We will shift back to weekly Green Cart collection in April as yard waste increases.”

Updated cart collection calendars are available on the City website and residents are encouraged to sign up for Cart Collection Alerts through Notify Red Deer for personalized reminders about which cart(s) to set out each week. Residents can sign up or add these alerts to their existing account at reddeer.ca/notifyreddeer.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to reach out by calling the Blue Line at 403-342-BLUE (2583) or emailing [email protected].
