Red Deer’s outdoor rinks open for the season this weekend

Parks and Recreation staff have been busy getting outdoor rinks ready for the holiday season. This weekend all outdoor rink locations, including Bower Ponds and Setters Place at Great Chief Park, will be ready for use.

Hockey nets will be delivered and lighting systems will be activated at all locations by Saturday, December 14. The City would like to remind skaters that the use of helmets is recommended at all times, and hockey is not permitted at Bower Ponds or the ice skating oval at Setters Place.

The ice at Bower Ponds will also be ready for Red Deerians to enjoy this weekend, with concession and skate rental services on site. Outdoor washrooms are available to the public daily from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and are located on the south side of the Bower Ponds Pavilion. Information about the Bower Ponds Pavilion and its services can be found at www.bowerponds.ca.
