Quick Hit:

The LAPD arrested dozens of rioters late Tuesday after declaring an unlawful assembly in downtown Los Angeles, where a curfew is now in effect amid escalating anti-ICE protests. Mayor Karen Bass blamed President Trump’s immigration crackdown for the unrest, while Gov. Gavin Newsom took aim at the administration’s arrests of illegal immigrants.

Key Details:

  • LAPD arrested dozens for failing to disperse after an unlawful assembly was declared.
  • A mandatory curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. is now in place in parts of downtown L.A.
  • Mayor Bass and Gov. Newsom blasted President Trump over the federal immigration enforcement actions fueling the protests.

Diving Deeper:

Law enforcement in Los Angeles moved quickly Tuesday night to enforce a newly implemented citywide curfew in response to days of anti-ICE protests that have erupted into vandalism, clashes, and street blockades. The LAPD confirmed the arrest of dozens of individuals who refused to disperse after a declaration of unlawful assembly.

A curfew, ordered by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, went into effect at 8 p.m. and will remain in place nightly in select areas of downtown through at least the end of the week. “I issued a curfew starting tonight at 8pm for Downtown Los Angeles to stop bad actors who are taking advantage of the President’s chaotic escalation,” Bass posted on X. “If you do not live or work in Downtown L.A., avoid the area. Law enforcement will arrest individuals who break the curfew, and you will be prosecuted.”

Video from the scene showed black-clad protesters lighting fires, smashing windows, and throwing objects at police hours before the curfew went into effect. As tensions escalated, LAPD officers moved in to disperse the crowd and made arrests of those who continued engaging in unlawful activity.

The unrest follows President Donald Trump’s decision to expand ICE operations in California, targeting criminal illegal immigrants amid rising concerns about gang violence and human trafficking. Critics on the left, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, have lashed out at the federal crackdown, with Newsom accusing the Trump administration of “traumatizing our communities.”But the White House pushed back, with its Rapid Response team characterizing Newsom’s comments as defending criminals. “Newsom claims President Trump is ‘traumatizing our communities’ by taking criminal illegal immigrant killers, rapists, gangbangers, drug dealers, human traffickers, and domestic abusers off the streets,” the White House wrote on X.

Protesters violate LA curfew, Homeland Security rams suspect’s car

“This was no hit and run. This was a targeted arrest of a violent rioter who punched a CBP officer”

A large number of protesters continued to march Wednesday evening on downtown Los Angeles streets, violating the second night of a 10-hour curfew.

The defiance came following a day of marches and hundreds of demonstrators gathering in Grand Park, the 12-acre open green space that has the 27-story-high Los Angeles City Hall as its dramatic backdrop. That’s where Los Angeles Police Department officers, including many on horseback, charged into the crowd with rods late Wednesday afternoon and evening to clear the park, according to media reports. Before that happened, some protesters were seen with lit fireworks, which has been what demonstrators threw at police during the weekend’s riots.

Police reportedly fired crowd control projectiles.

Earlier, the protests gained momentum with a march that reached the Spring Street side of Los Angeles City Hall around 6 p.m. local time, according to an LAPD post on X. Police also said around the same time that protesters had gathered at Pershing Square, a Los Angeles park, and on Alameda Street between Aliso and Temple streets.

Police later reported on X that the large gathering at Grand Park separated into various groups blocking downtown streets. Minutes after the curfew started at 8 p.m., protesters were seen on live TV newscasts. About 20 minutes later, a crowd on First and Hill streets were taken into custody, according to CBS News Los Angeles, whose helicopter was overhead.

The nightly curfew is for a one-square-mile downtown area that’s between freeways. The city of Los Angeles consists of more than 500 square miles.

Wednesday’s protests followed a day of news involving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Homeland Security confirmed that its unmarked cars rammed into a moving white Mercedes sedan for an arrest on Whittier Boulevard in the L.A. neighborhood of Boyle Heights.

Agents drew their guns and used tear gas before the driver left the Mercedes, witnesses said, according to CBS News Los Angeles. One witness said the passenger in the Mercedes had two babies with her.

Homeland Security explained the arrest in a post on X.

“This was no hit and run. This was a targeted arrest of a violent rioter who punched a CBP officer,” Homeland Security said, referring to Customs and Border Protection. “When Homeland Security Investigations tried to arrest Christian Damian Cerno-Camacho for the assault, he attempted to flee. He was ultimately arrested and taken into custody.”

Homeland Security said its officers have faced a 433% increase in assaults against them as they “put their lives on the line” to arrest murderers, rapists and gang members.

And on Wednesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided businesses and churches in the nearby city of Downey, which resulted in several arrests and outrage expressed by local officials and pastors, according to media reports.

Anti-Trump protests planned across the country on Saturday as LA violence continues

Published on

From LifeSiteNews

By Doug Mainwaring

The ‘No Kings’ demonstrations will take place as anti-Trump rioting in Los Angeles continues to escalate and has already spread to other Democrat-run big cities.

A massive campaign is underway to foment potentially violent anti-Trump, anti-MAGA protests across the U.S. on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14.

The planned “No Kings” (NK) rallies are described as a “nationwide day of defiance” to “reject authoritarianism.” Organizers say they expect millions of people to protest at over 1,500 locations throughout all 50 states.

While intended to appear as a national grassroots movement against the president and the America First values he stands for, the rallies are highly planned, centrally-coordinated, and promoted by deep-pocketed individuals and woke, neo-Marxist organizations and politicians.

More than 100 leftist groups, portraying themselves as “pro-democracy” activists, are partnering with the NK effort.

NK’s call to action is based on absurd, if not outright mendacious, leftist assertions concerning the Trump administration and MAGA:

NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political positions, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts.

We’re standing together against the abuses of power, cruelty, and corruption. On June 14, we gather to remind President Trump and his enablers: America has No King!

While NK organizers claim that they will hold peaceful demonstrations, the rallies will likely attract violent radicals.

The NK rallies come as the violence and destruction of the anti-ICE havoc in Los Angeles continues to escalate and has already begun to spread to other Democrat-run big cities.

“Things are getting out of control in New York CIty, other cities expected to follow as early as tomorrow,” said Colonel Douglas McGregor on X.

“Large scale CLASHES are now breaking out between anti-ICE rioters and police in CHICAGO,” wrote Nick Sortor on X.

“Anti-ICE riots have now spread to ATLANTA,” noted Sortor in a second X post. “It’s being described as a ‘WARZONE.’

“Hundreds of anti-ICE protesters making their way through downtown Denver,” said  radio host Jeana Gondek on X.  “Riot police, SWAT, & other authorities responded to break up a demonstration. A police drone gives a warning saying all reasonable force will be utilized to deny highway access.”

And violence erupted yesterday in Seattle as ANTIFA attacked a federal building, according to The Post Millennial reporter Katie Daviscourt.

The rallies will create a stark contrast with the patriotic America 250 military parade and festival in Washington, D.C., celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army’s founding, which will also take place on June 14.

While No Kings has strategically chosen to abstain from sponsoring a rally in D.C. – ostensibly to prevent the Nation’s capital from being “the center of gravity” – it’s more likely that organizers fear bad optics should their participants attack America 250 attendees and military equipment.

That hasn’t stopped another group, “Refuse Fascism,” from planning to bus people from New York City to D.C. to protest the military parade and associated festivities.

“The LA open-border riots are spreading and they want to incite violence against Trump supporters,” said X user “Hillbilly?” who first alerted the public to the group’s plan.
