Didsbury RCMP execute search warrant for drugs and weapons offences

Didsbury RCMP, with assistance from Southern Alberta District’s RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Services executed a search warrant on a residence in the Town of Didsbury, on Friday, Jan. 22.  An extensive search was conducted and evidence was seized by police.

Kristopher Ronald Neergaard (50) was arrested and is facing the following charges:

  • 7 charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • 20 firearm related charges, et al

The drugs seized by police are suspected to be Fentanyl, Cocaine, Heroin, GHB (Hydroxybutanoic acid), Hydromorphone (aka Dilaudid), Morphine, and Psyilocybin (magic mushrooms).  Canadian currency, several weapons and firearms were also seized by police.

Kristopher Neergaard has been remanded in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Didsbury Provincial Court on Jan. 25, 2021.

Didsbury RCMP investigation is ongoing.

Didsbury RCMP’s Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Chad Fournier said “This day is a culmination of a complex investigation and will have a significant impact on the Town of Didsbury and surrounding areas.  It is rewarding when we are approached on scene by residents of our community, personally thanking us for this work.”

Arrest made after 4th Olds police car struck by another vehicle in the last 4 weeks

Olds RCMP arrest individuals in stolen vehicle after two police cars struck

On Jan. 2, 2024, at 3:00 a.m.,  RCMP were notified of a suspicious vehicle operating in the industrial park on Imperial way in Olds. Upon officers approaching the vehicle, it rammed two police vehicles as it attempted to leave the area, rendering both inoperable.  The vehicle came to a stop and both occupants were arrested. Checks on the vehicle revealed that it was stolen.

Eric Michael Unger (33) has been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Possession of Break in tools
  • Flight from police
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Dangerous Driving
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Assault with weapon of a police officer (x2)
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Unger was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Jan. 8, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury.

Another 29-year-old male resident of Red Deer was arrested and has charges pending.

Three Hills RCMP nab suspect who set fire to a field in escape attempt

Three Hills RCMP apprehend property crime offender after lighting fire on rural property

On Oct. 8, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Three Hills RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress while the home owner was home and hiding inside. Members arrived at the residence and observed suspects fleeing the area in a vehicle. Three Hills RCMP located the vehicle and one male suspect after he lit a fire to a farm field to try and evade police. The male was arrested shortly after and identified by police. Police confirmed the vehicle was stolen and officers located break and enter tools and stolen property inside the vehicle.

Joseph Vincent (30), a resident of Sylvan Lake, Alta., has been charged with:

  • Arson – Damage to Property
  • Break and Enter Residence
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Provincial Trespass

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Vincent was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on Oct. 13, 2023.

Three Hills RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt. Jamie Day stated “I am proud of the responding members from the Three Hills Detachment. A lot of work went into catching this offender and I am, thankful that no one was hurt during the incident. This demonstrates the importance, effectiveness and dedication from our members. Three Hills RCMP remains fully committed in building safer communities by working in partnership with our community as well as through investigative and enforcement efforts to achieve this goal.  An instrumental tool that aided the investigation, was camera footage provided by the victims linking the individual to multiple incidents. I would like to thank Southern Alberta District Crime Analyst for his assistance providing intel that was critical to the investigation.”
